The much awaited first Trailer for Marvel Studios’ Thor Love and Thunder has been released. The film is set to hit theaters July 8th of this year. This is the first time a first trailer has been released this close to release for an MCU film. A poster and synopsis were also released alongside. Lets Breakdown the trailer for any Easter Eggs or Details you may have missed

  1. The trailer opens up to a shot where Thor runs from his childhood to adulthood this depicts his transformation and how he gains an interest in fighting and war as he gains his Armor as he gets older. As we saw Thor’s arrogance in his first film, fighting was his answer for everything. The film then saw Thor get humbled and become the hero we know him to be. After losing his loved ones like his mother, brother, friends, and his people Thor realized that fighting was not the answer but it was a choice.

2. At the end of Avengers: Endgame He is confused about who he is so he wants to find himself and also motivate himself to get back into shape. In the workout shot we can see Thor using the chains of a beast for his battling rope workout. It could be a yeti from the mountains of our planet or another planet or Mount Olympus as the landscape has a mountainous terrain.Note It can also be eitri’s skeleton

3. In the second shot, we see a city which is hanging in the sky which is most likely Olympia, or the pocket dimension of Olympus. Which is the land of the Greek Gods.

4. In another shot we see the Guardians of the Galaxy or in this case the Asguardians getting ready to fight with an alien species as Thor decides not to fight with them and walks away. Thor joined the Guardians at the end of Avengers: Endgame as he felt there was nothing left for him in New Asgard, making Valkyrie the new King.

5. So next we see Thor’s shiny new blue and gold suit as storm breaker glows and gives of energy, possibly acting as a compass to guide Thor, Korg and Jane to Olympia.

6. We then get our first look at Zeus who is the king of mount Olympia and God of skies, played by award winning Russel Crowe. Zeus is like the God of Gods and also the God of Thunder like Thor.

7. The trailer then cuts to a hilarious scene where we see guardians give a send-off to Thor on the sakaar planet which I believe is where Thor parts from the Guardians, and starts his journey of self discovery.

8. The tree in the next shot is where Thor starts to travel to different planets with his friends. And there is a subtle reference to Gautam buddha who got enlightenment under a tree as we see Thor is meditating under a tree and seeking enlightenment.

9. We also get a glimpse of New Asgard which has become a new tourist attraction spot and has started to get it’s own golden buildings like Asgard. A Boat is flying above with goats at the front these are Thor’s goats Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder. It seems that this Goat Boat will be the newest attraction at new Asgard. Multiple cruise ships can also be seen in the back supporting New Asgard’s image as the hottest tourist destination on the MCU’s Earth.

10. Valkyrie or King Valkyrie as the film calls her is the new King of Asgard. We can see that she is not too interested in this political turmoil going on in new Asgard either of laws or due to other gods. This was teased in a headline on a news screen in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

11. It seems that New Asgard’s label as the hottest tourist destination may not last too long as we can see that New Asgard is going through an attack or war of some kind. Possibly the Vengeance of Gorr the God Butcher. Buildings in the back seem to be on fire so it looks like his vengeance may have arrived and caused Thor to return.

12. Where Thor must fight to save Asgard but as he arrives he is amazed and shocked as he sees The Mighty Thor with a now reformed Mjolnir. This is his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster who now has mysteriously acquired the powers of Thor and has managed to put Mjolnr back together.

13. In a further shot, we can see why Valkyrie is not interested in that time as it is a renewable energies conference with the world, and we can confirm that New Asgard is officially recognized as a country in the MCU.

14. In another shot, we can see who is traveling to Olympus, and there we see Thor, Jane, Korg, and a mysterious character traveling with them. Possibly King Valyrie or Korg’s old companion Miek.

15. There is also another god we see in the trailer Falligar, The Patron god of the Galactic Frontier and champion god of the Tournament of Immortals. Falligar was an acquaintance of Thor, as they both occasionally passed each other on the spaceways. As mirrored in the comics it looks like he will be killed or butchered by Gorr the God Butcher who is Christian bale’s character. We are not given a look at Gorr in this trailer, so it looks like they’ll be saving him for the next Trailer.

The Film’s Plot

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. The Trailer is great and gives us an amazing glimpse at the film but doesn’t reveal too much.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to Premiere July 8th exclusively in theaters.
