‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 Review

Firstly, I would like to thank Netflix for making this review possible by allowing myself to watch the entire third season early.

Once you start watching the season you’ll see that it continues from directly where we left off and is extremely fast paced for the start of a new season. We see what The Umbrella Academy could do when going up against someone or some team that can fight as well if not better than them. Snippets of The Sparrow Academy’s powers and their strengths are showed. It’s extremely fascinating how they take on a team vs team fight for the first time in the series and it does not disappoint.

Emotional Weight

Moving on, the action dies down a bit. This season is different from the others it has a real emotional look and tells a certain characters struggle with the effects of saving the word 2 times after a few days of one another, we start to see certain cracks form which take hold of these characters and really defines them in this season. The acting is brilliant throughout, But the clear standout this season is Robert Sheehan (Klaus) he really steals the show with his acting. There are some heart warming moments, and there are some moments where we found ourselves laughing so hard at the character! The other stand out star in this is Emmy Raver-Lampman (Alisson) we see this certain character stand out at a certain point of this series and really see a new side to them.

A Super-powered Season

The soundtrack this time around is one of the best I have heard and what else can we expect from Gerard Way at the helm, there are certain songs that play and you wouldn’t think they would be involved in a “comic book” series but there are some moments that are touches you and the music is just perfect, the music that plays during the action moments gets your heart pumping and ready to fight.

This season as a whole is the best yet, there are moments that you do not expect and takes you on a real rollercoaster of emotions at one point I wanted to throw something, it even answers a life long question we fans have been asking and that is only in episode 1. There are some fantastic call backs from previous seasons, it was a great show to watch and really left us wanting more when it ended.

Final Verdict

My overall verdict is that this season is one that you will love more than others with its humour and sly meta references, this series is one for the ages and it will be hailed as the best season to date and will leave fans with questions but also will want them wanting more as soon as the final credits roll. Everyone has turned the dial up to 10 as for me I have enjoyed this season the most from the previous Two seasons.

Why Nightmare might be the mystery villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?

The MCU has successfully introduced the concept of the Multiverse and connected previous movies in Spiderman: No Way Home. In the recent TV spot released by Marvel Studios titled “Dream”, fans spotted a weird face which has caused mass fan speculation on who this mysterious face may represent.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to release on May 6 and will be connected to many universes, leaks have also suggested that the movie will have many notable cameos from previous franchises. With Marvel Studios themselves saying that the film will have more surprises than Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way home combined so basically anything and everything could happen in this film.

So who is this mysterious figure?

Some of the potential villains and figures who this face could represent are Chthon a demonic elder god and a primal devil in MCU, Mephisto is an extra-dimensional demon who rules a fiery pocket dimension, and finally Nightmare who is the ruler of the dream dimension.

Cthohn, Nightmare, Mephisto

Now to the main part, the main villain of the Doctor Strange sequel should’ve been Nightmare as back in 2018 Doctor Strange writer C. Robert Cargill revealed he and Derrickson planned to make Nightmare the villain for the film’s sequel. Even though Derrickson exited the project and Sam Raimi directed the film instead, Raimi himself noted in interviews that he wanted to keep the original pitch by Derrickson intact.

Why it could be Nightmare?

From the first trailer we’ve been hearing that Doctor Strange has been having weird dreams but they seem real to him and the recent trailer released to promote ticket sales even shows Wanda having the same kind of dreams many people think it’s just a coincidence, but could it really be just a coincidence. In the same trailer, a song is played which is all about the dream which turn into a nightmare. As nightmare torments people in their sleep.

Some think it’s so obvious that the villain is Mephisto as he’s been teased In WandaVision, Loki, and in No Way Home. Some think the mystery figure may be Cthohn but should we really sideline all the evidence suggesting that it could be Nightmare.

In WandaVision

In Loki

In Spiderman: No Way Home.

Then again Marvel Studios aims to keep the audience confused with hints, keeping the actual plot very secretive. To increase the hype surrounding the film they tease a lot of different thing so it could still be one of those. We will soon fine out who the main villain is in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as the film releases in just 19 days.

Watch Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in theaters exclusively May 6th. Also check out our review for Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon adds Corey Stroll and Cary Elwes

Zack Snyder is set to direct, write and produce his upcoming space opera sci-fi fantasy Rebel Moon for Netflix. The film is currently in pre-production, with production expected to begin later this year, and is set to release on Netflix in 2024. It is part of Netflix’s multi-year deal with Snyder, previously making the films Army of the Dead and Army of thieves for the streamer. Rebel Moon has now added new cast members including Corey Stroll and Cary Elwes.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Corey Stroll(House of Cards and Ant-Man) and Cary Elwes(Saw and Stranger things) had joined the film along with Dutch actor Michiel Huisman(The Flight Attendant and Game of Thrones) and Mexican actor Alfonso Herrera(Sense8 and Ozark). Stroll has also recently appeared in the critically acclaimed Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, while Elwes has recently made a triumphant return to acting with Netflix’s Stranger Things and the Mission Impossible franchise after previously starring in classics like The Princess Bride.

As revealed by Variety on February 9th, Rebel Moon is a sci-fi fantasy saga being created for Netflix that takes inspiration from Seven Samurai and Star Wars and has an Akira Kurosawa vibe to it. Originally, starting as a Star Wars film pitch nearly a decade ago, before Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012. Snyder co-wrote the screenplay in collaboration with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad. It follows a mysterious young girl(Sofia Boutella) who must embark on a recruitment mission across the galaxy to locate mercenary soldiers that will aid a peaceful rebellion against the military advances of the tyrannical Regent Belisarius.

Elwes will play the king of the galactic empire, while details for the other actors were not revealed. The film’s cast includes Sofia Boutella in the starring role along with Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, and Sky Yang.  Fisher also worked with Snyder on Zack Snyder’s Justice League as Cyborg and Malone co-starred in the Snyder’s Sucker Punch.

Production for the film will last until November with a plan to split the project into two films. There are also plans of making other spin-offs from the film, in the same way, Star Wars previously has done with films like Rogue One and shows like The Mandalorian.

‘Money Heist’ creator Alex Pina working on a pandemic inspired series for Netflix

The creator of the global hit series ‘Money Heist’ has extended his contract with Netflix and is now working on a series inspired by the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Alex Pina

The Hollywood Reporter reported that the series is still untitled and will be set in a luxury underground bunker. Pina told them that he was inspired by a news article about rich people in Spain purchasing bunkers in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Pina elaborated further describing the premise, “Up to 15 floors down, with exclusive services, such as cinema, pool, spa, gym, and common gardens, with water and food to survive more than five years. An underground community for 75 people. And then we thought about what life would be like there. Social, family and romantic relationships, in an underground shelter to which they had hastily and exclusively fled.”.

‘Money Heist’ was Netflix’s biggest series before the record-breaking Korean series ‘Squid Game’. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Netflix has signed on Pina for another series. Netflix had previously brought Pina back for the latest seasons of Money Heist and an upcoming ’Money Heist’ spin-off series ‘Berlin’. Netflix even signed their first-ever global exclusive deal with Pina in 2018, the first for Netflix with a foreign-language creative. Pina is also working on multiple other projects for them including, ‘Sky Rojo’ and ‘The White Lines’. This highlights the importance of foreign-made content to Netflix as two of their three biggest series are in a foreign language, a Korean version of ‘Money heist’ was recently also greenlit at Netflix.
