Earlier in the year Production weekly listings, we got a mention of an “UNTITLED MARVEL SPACE PROJECT” in development being produced by Kevin Feige. Deadline has now reported that Marvel Studios is developing a project for the fan-favorite hero, Nova with Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada.

Disney+ Series

Marvel fans have been campaigning for Nova’s addition into the MCU for a long time, with rumors of a Nova project stretching back years. It seems that Marvel Studios is finally bringing Nova to the Big Screen. Deadline writer Justin Kroll later added on Twitter saying that the project will most likely be a Disney+ series. Many industry insiders have now backed this claim. This lines up with a Production Weekly listing for an “UNTITLED MARVEL SPACE PROJECT”, with this report coming out just a week later it is more than likely that this will indeed be a Disney+ Series.

Richard Rider or Sam Alexander

Nova has had many different aliases and iterations in Marvel Comics, with Richard Rider and Sam Alexander being the most prominent ones. TheWrap reports that the series will be based on the original fan-favorite Nova, Richard Rider. Richard Rider is a teenager based in New York. Who, was chosen at random by the alien Rhomann Dey, the last surviving Centurion of the planet Xandar’s elite Nova Corps, to inherit his power and succeed him in the rank of Nova Prime following the destruction of his world by the intergalactic pirate Zorr. Xandar was last seen in the MCU in Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2, with the Nova Corps helping the Guardians defeat Ronan in Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.1.

Sabir Pirzada to write

Deadline also reported that the series would be written by Sabir Pirzada, who recently worked on Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight series, writing episodes 3 and 4. You can check out our writer Rayyan Akbar’s high praise for the series here in particular for Pirzada’s episodes, with our review dropping on the 29th. The Moon Knight scribe has previously also worked on Person Of Interest and Rosswell, New Mexico, as a writer. Pirzada also marks an amazing shift for Marvel, bringing in a lot of new Muslim creatives for their projects with, Mohamed Diab for Moon Knight, Bassam Tariq for Blade, and their first Muslim superhero in Ms.Marvel brought to the screen with Muslim actors, writers, directors, and producers.

There is still not much else about the series, an official announcement should be expected at D23 Expo this year, from the 9th to the 11th of Spetember.

Moon Knight Premieres on Disney Plus March 30 but you can watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1 and 2 on Disney Plus right now
